Almost three years ago, Joey and I set out to build a Minecraft world together. We wanted to create a world that lasted. A place where friends would connect. A community of friends that would always come back for more. Joey spun up a server through an online host and we messed around in a world that we called "MidWorld". We invited a few of our friends. In many ways, this was the kind of server that many crafters have been a part of. There was no great ambition. We weren't even good at Minecraft. MidWorld was just a place to blow off steam and enjoy a game after a long day of schooling and work.

 

In the Fall of 2020 (peak COVID), we made a fortuitous connection on Instagram - JoJo, a Swiss creator with a passion for art, Minecraft and team building. JoJo had a large and growing Instagram account, @mcbannerss — now with nearly 100K followers. The three of us realized that building a team, hosting a high quality server, and exploring the limits of our creativity was something that we wanted to do. We floated an application on @mcbannerss. From a few hundred applications, we invited a dozen people to join us... And thus MidWorld SMP was born.

MidWorld SMP is constantly evolving, but early on, Joey and I recognized a few key "pillars" that we wanted to build a community around — our "values":

• MidWorld will last. Joey and I promise that this project will continue indefinitely, and no worlds will ever be deleted without warning. The story told in MidWorld SMP may conclude in a few years, and we may start a new series with a new name, but the community will always remain.

• MidWorld will always be an inclusive place for all people — all "crafters". MW is a place to relax and create. We will always foster a place that enables these things.

​

• MidWorld team will always be there for each other and the community. Community means family. Support for our team and community is something Joey and I promise to always provide.

• MidWorld will always uphold a high quality standard for all things. We will always recruit the best people & creators we can find. We will always maintain a high-performance, quality server. We will always aspire to grow and create.
